Just a day after Apple tore up their exclusive contract with O2 for the sale of their iPhone, the US giant has announced a deal with Vodafone.

I’m really pleased with my iPhone, it does everything I want it to for personal use (but not for work, see here for my thoughts on HTC’s Hero) but it has one weak link – O2’s dreadful 3G service.

UK mobile operator Orange has confirmed it’s to sell Apple’s iPhone 3G and 3Gs models later this year.

O2 has confirmed the Palm Pre, which has had mixed reviews in the US, will be go on sale on 16 October.
The network, which has the handset on an exclusive basis, will offer the phone for free on an 18 month tariff of £44.05 per month. On lower tariffs the handset will cost £96.89.

Phone maker HTC, currently wining plaudits for their Hero mobile phone, confirmed on Tuesday the release of a second handset to feature Android and Sense UI. Positioned as a phone to bring Android “to the masses”, the handset features a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, 3.5mm stereo headset jack and expandable microSD memory.
